Heatwave started out as a Kingston, Jamaica sound during the early 80’s.  Certain things happened and now Heatwave, a sound founded by Bobby Digital, resides here in Canada where Spragga Roots is at the controls and sometimes, Lindo P.  If you love Reggae classics from the 80’s and 90’s – Shabba, Ninja Man, Sanchez etc. then this is where you might hear dubs by the aforementioned artistes that you’ve never heard before.  Selector Spragga Roots did an excellent job delivering a three hour mix that took listeners back in time to when Dancehall was fresh, new and exciting as well as unpredictable.

Lindo P. was supposed be the guest artist, but, couldn’t make it down as he was performing that night – in two different places I might add.  Spragga is not a ‘mix’ DJ and in the past, I’ve criticized DJ’s for it.  On this night though, because of the exclusivity of the music and the fact that Spragga knew every single one of his dubs, I let it slide.  The vibes were nice, it was like I was in Jamaica for a big dance and the sound that was playing was holdin’ it down before the action was to start.  Big Up Spragga Roots for hosting Sound System Fridays!  Enjoy the sweet, sweet, sounds of yesteryear!
