FNR_05.10.13 049I’m surprised how many people had never heard of Twin Star International (judging from our Chat room on ReggaeMania.com), but, after the show was done, it was clear that Twin Star International, though relatively unknown, must be ranked as one of Toronto’s Top 10 Sounds.  Friday’s show was madd from start to finish – nuff big chunes, wicked speech, braggin’, boasting, cussing and dissing!  The entire broadcast is a nice example of a hype selector delivering a solid radio show, where, just like in a Sound clash, killer dubs are in perfect harmony with speech that is extremely on point.

Junior D’Selecta – a one man machine who plays the sound and talk the mic at the same time, is no stranger to Sound clash, he started in the 90’s with Casino Sound before switching to Black  Melody, but is best known for his days playing with Studio Mixx Sound, and will always be remembered for taking out and defeating Japan’s Mighty Crown and America’s mighty King Addies in a Tag Team Clash also featuring partner King Turbo a few years back, as well as a victory over Blackat witih selector Panther back in the Zone One days.

If you know Junior D personally however, you’ll find  him to be a very obsessed, confident and sometimes cocky MC/Selector  just wating for his next opportunity to kill Sound – any Sound, no matter the territory or rank.  Personally, I think he is one of the smartest selectors in the business, he attends every clash and studies clash DVDs and Cassettes going back to the foundation of Dancehall.  You’ll see from the broacast that Twin Star International is not afraid to talk di talk and call ‘Sound-man name’, especially because they have the dubs to back it.  The ReggaeMania chat room, normally full of critics and hecklers, seemed very tame on this night, as surprisingly, Twin Star International Sound were getting propa ratings by all for their enjoyable Sound System Fridays performance.

And people, check out what happens at 10:30 PM, when Twin Star plays a Twin Star ReggaeMania Dub!  Damn impressive, where did that love come from?!!  Twin Star – you are seasoned, ripe and ready to kill Sound,
and I look forward to seeing you back on the Sound clash stage in the near future.  I could go on and on about this Sound and the show they delivered, but, the broadcast speaks for itself (according to Twin Star, Jamaica’s Frankie Paul was scheduled as their special guest artiste, but his work permit was denied).

Big Up Twin Star International and its owner – Unruly Twin Jermaine, sidekick Roman, as well as Junior Flex (artiste – great performance!), Keisha, DJ Chrome (NYC), Wizzla (JA) and my artical former partner in crime, Sauga’s own Lisa West.  Enjoy the Podcast!
