DJ Culcha repped his Gideon Sound with new music and fresh just-back-from Jamaica vibes on last week’s Sound System Fridays broadcast. I admit, I was already hyped after hearing DJ Culcha new music on his Rebel Music Radio Show on the previous Thursday (Regent Radio), so it made complete sense to invite him down. Besides, DJ Culcha had already repped on ReggaeMania before, about a year ago, and had nothing to prove. His intent was to present a show that was exciting yet not all about dub plates, which may be disappointing to some, but not to me. That’s because I love new music, although I consider much of what I have to play disposable after the music not standing the test of time. Hearing DJ Culcha play hsi new music was refreshing to say the least (it’s amazing what spending time in Yard can do to a selector), and on this night, DJ Culcha was on with his the majority of his mixing and selecting. He is full of information about artists, Sounds and news information on what’s gwaaning in Yard and what he was pesonally doing there himself, so it is no surprise that the interview following DJ Culcha’s DJ performance was entertaining as well as educational.
