Reggae artist Ripton J. Hylton, known as “Eek-A-Mouse,” has been deported from Paraguay and faces extradition to North Carolina on four year old charges, police say. Kill Devil Hills police reported that Hylton had left the country sometime after his arrest back in August 2008, when he was charged with first degree kidnapping, second degree rape and possession of cocaine.  According to police reports, a 23 year old woman was held against her will by Eek-A-Mouse at a motel, but, Eek-A-Mouse denies all charges and has said he is innocent.

In 2010, Hylton missed a court date in Dare County after his flight was cancelled due to volcanic ash.  His lawyer said the absence was not intentional, but, Superior Court Judge Jerry Tillett issued a warrant for Hylton’s arrest with a $1 million dollar bond for failure to appear – “It was difficult for me to understand why the judge thought this was willful,” stated Eek-A-Mouse after his motion to continue the case for sixty days was denied.

As of  Thursday, police said, Hylton was in custody awaiting extradition to North Carolina from Florida.  He was located in Paraguay November 21 without a proper visa and subsequently deported.
