Topping this month’s chart is Toronto’s own Michie ‘Bahd Gyal’ Mee with “Bahd Gyal Bubble” (a song I’ll take credit for ‘breaking’ in the T Dot!), sliding up from number four last month to the number one spot and knocking out former chart topper “Glasses Dark” (Terminal DG) into the number two spot.  Just over a week ago, Michie ‘officially’ released a cool music video for “Bahd Gyal Bubble”, ensuring longer life for the track in this fast-moving Dancehall Industry.  Big Up Smoke Shop Productions, their Mad Rass Riddim has got to be the best Canadian Riddim for the year.  Michie Mee’s “Bahd Gyal Bubble” may have also ensured extended life for the riddim, but, the riddim has also ensured extended life for Michie Mee as she has now silenced all critics with this great piece of work.  She is a force to be reckoned with in the market – other female MC’s better look out, Michie Mee is back – don’t underestimate Canada’s first Queen of Hip-hop!

One of the year’s most original songs (and one of my favourites), “Am Twinkling” (Father Price / Eyesus / Fire Lion) moves up from number five to number three, while Exco Levi’s “Dutchie Wah Food” makes a big jump from number fourteen to number four.  Ammoye’s “Radio”, a former chart topper, still won’t go away proving to be one of the better produced classics of the year and sliding down from number two to number five on our chart.  Her “Pick Me Up” tune has now made an exit from the chart, after holding down the number eleven spot last month.  Ammoye continues to throw punches with the debut of “Baby It’s You”, a cute little ballad taking over position number eight.

Hanging on right behind Ammoye is Nkrumah with “Reggaemylytis”, followed by Kaisha Lee’s “Clean Heart Order”, another favourite of mine also on Smoke Shop’s Mad Rass Riddim.  Terminal DG’s “Pure Chat” is holding down spot number ten.  Give Canada’s Steele some props for quietly sliding up the chart – “Hanging On” now occupies spot number six, while his second entry “She Believes In Me” holds down the number eleven spot.  Fire Lion’s “Bazzle And I Know It”, Sample King’s “Jam Dung Gangnam Style” and Chuckle Berry’s “Win Gal” all slid down to take the number twelve, thirteen and fourteen spots.  Former chart t0pper Shalli holds onto spot number sixteen with “I Fly” and Belinda is one slot ahead with “Found The One”.  Eyesus (solo) takes the number seventeen spot with “Good Friend” and Faze’s new track – “Inna Church” lands in spot eighteen.  New to the chart and taking spot nineteen is G Maffiah with “Mi Wah Yuh Love” and Tasha T has a new release – “In A Di Jungle” and it sits at number twenty.
