Congratulations are in order!  Big Up King Klepto Sound!  Started by Shortman and Stitch outta Malton in 1992, the sound quickly grew to include official members Apache, Rich Kid, Polly, Gremlin, DJ Dunn, Spotlight, Richie and Chuckstar.  In Toronto, we are familiar with King Klepto and the antics of Polly Famous, now, it’s New York’s turn.  They recently got invited to represent Canada in the upcoming Global Clash (Andrew Digital Production) in New York City December 8th.  This might be their biggest break yet.

I spoke to King Klepto’s Polly Famous (who has been part of the crew since 2003 – taking over from Rich Kid, Spotlight and Gremlin, who had been playing with ‘the sound’ since its inception) about the upcoming Global Clash and the event that might have placed them there – the NO MERCY Sound clash that took place September 28th at Albany Manor in Brooklyn, NY that featured Innocent vs King Klepto (people say Klepto may have been sabotaged in that event after alcohol spilled onto their laptop preventing them from advancing) vs Kosmik.

I asked him about the NYC clash scene and how it compares to Canada’s and how they’re dealing with the fact that their top artist, “Vybz Kartel” is incarcerated – Klepto dubs featuring Kartel get old fast and with a lack of quality new music out there, how they deal with it.  Lets face it, we are living in an era where modern day clash fans demand new music.

I ended the interview by asking Polly to rate the ‘sounds’ (one by one, based on their strengths and weaknesses) they’ll be up against come Saturday December 8th 2012 for Global Clash @ Pulse 48 a.k.a. Club C-Pac (Brooklyn, NY) – featuring Heavy Hammer (Italy) Vs Soul Supreme (USA) Vs King Klepto (Canada) Vs Madd Squadd (Jamaica) Vs Risky Dise (Japan) Vs King Addies  (USA).  Hosted by Bobby Konders Hot 97 FM.

We hope the Canadian massive will be in attendance.  Stay tuned to ReggaeMania.com for updates on King Klepto Sound and the Global Clash as the date draws near.   We congratulate the crew on their success and wish them the best of luck!  It was ten years ago this year that a miracle happened at Club Amazura in Queens, NYC – Canada’s likkle sound, ‘Rebel Tone’ took part in the World Clash and was crowned the winner!  So, anything can happen…Enjoy the audio!
