#1: TOP (2) CANADIAN FEMALE 2019 - TONYA P While working at CKLN 88.1 FM, King Sharpe, former Desert Storm selector, brought Tonya Pringle AKA Tonya P to the radio station. When I met her, I immediately knew she would be a star. There was something impressive about her, she was smart, humble, genuine, beautiful and captivating. When I heard her sing, I felt like all the pieces were put together and I understood my intuitions. ♦ This JUNO-nominated Canadian [...]

Top 10 Canadian Chart March 2013

By |2017-09-17T10:23:22-04:00April 12th, 2013|Charts, Top 20 Canadian|

The Canadian Reggae Scene has been somewhat stagnant as of late re: recording and releasing new music.  The music that is being released, i'm jus' not feeling it.  So, with that in mind, I've decided to downscale this month's chart to a Top 10 Canadian Reggae Chart vs a Top 20 chart - this way, it's fair to all!  Once the scene picks up again, I will reinstate the Top 20 chart. Gone from our March chart are [...]

Top 20 Canadian Chart February 2013

By |2017-09-17T10:23:24-04:00February 21st, 2013|Charts, Music, Top 20 Canadian|

Topping our Top 20 Canadian Chart for the second consecutive month is the lovely and talented Michie 'Bahd Gyal' Mee.  What a comeback story for Canada's Rap and Reggae Queen!  Her track 'Bahd Gyal Bubble' is tight all around (vocal + production wise) which makes for a very powerful chune - her raw lyrics combined with her element of style (Rapping and Toasting) takes the song to another level.  The track is so danceable and it stands up [...]

Top 20 Canadian Chart January 2013

By |2017-09-17T10:23:26-04:00January 14th, 2013|Charts, Music, Top 20 Canadian|

Topping this month's chart is Toronto's own Michie 'Bahd Gyal' Mee with "Bahd Gyal Bubble" (a song I'll take credit for 'breaking' in the T Dot!), sliding up from number four last month to the number one spot and knocking out former chart topper "Glasses Dark" (Terminal DG) into the number two spot.  Just over a week ago, Michie 'officially' released a cool music video for "Bahd Gyal Bubble", ensuring longer life for the track in this fast-moving [...]

Top 20 Canadian Chart December 2012

By |2017-09-17T10:23:36-04:00December 4th, 2012|Charts, Music, Top 20 Canadian|

Topping our Canadian Chart this month is Terminal DG's catchy tune - "Glasses Dark".  It was the first song to be released on the Duffle Bag Riddim and over time has transcended to higher levels, especially in Jamaica where the song and "Everything Darrrrkkk" movement is already endorsed by the likes of DJ Kenny, Richie B., and the entire Mandeville (JA) community who just loves Terminal DG.  Check out his brand spaking new video to accompany the song.  The fact [...]

Top 20 Canadian Chart November 2012

By |2017-09-17T10:23:41-04:00October 29th, 2012|Charts, Music, Top 20 Canadian|

This month, Ammoye's "Radio" takes the #1 spot on our RM Top 20 Canadian Chart beating out Shalli / Tiwony's  "I Fly" (previously number one - October Chart).  This song is performed on the Club Dance Riddim and is produced by Reggae hitmaker Kemar "Flava" McGregor.  Not far behind Ammoye, coming in at number two is Nkrumah with "Reggaemylytis".  Shalli / Tiwony appear again with "I Fly" for the number three spot.  Terminal DG moves up to number four with "Glasses [...]

Top 20 Canadian Chart October 2012

By |2017-09-17T10:23:51-04:00October 2nd, 2012|Charts, Music, Top 20 Canadian|

Shalli / Tiwony hold down the #1 spot on our first chart with "I Fly".  This song is wicked!  It definitely has commercial radio appeal (G98.7 and Flow 93.5 - listen up!)  Tagging right behind Shalli is Ammoye, another Canadian songstress who has two songs in the top five - not bad for this talented diva.  As a matter of fact, twenty-five percent of the artists on this chart are female.  That's awesome!  Female artists are kickin' it this year! [...]
