King Attarney Sound gets full props for their show this past Friday on Sound System Fridays.  Despite being an ‘overstocked’ Champion Sound, they are often forgotten about by Toronto promoters because they are a Hamilton Sound (out of sight, out of mind) and they don’t kiss ass, mine included.  That aside, there is so much depth to the King Attarney box – Father Phantom (owner), as youthful and energetic as he could be, still aims high and remains positive when it comes to his Sound moving forward, garnering the respect that they deserve.

No disrespect to Attarney’s MC (Garfield) and DJ (Gyco), but, their dubs were ‘the star’ of the night – not only were they sweet, but, they spoke ‘louder’ than anyone else that night.  Big Up Garfield and Gyco jus’ the same – despite not being with the Sound since its inception (1982), both of these youths repped the Attarney machine properly and brought a nice, consistent Dancehall vibe to the ReggaeManiaRadio studio with good speech and quality dub selections!  Also, Big Up Turbo (Attarney Promotions) and Bocca who were in the house as well!

Attarney delivered on the ‘artiste’ front – Major Current, Def Shade, Diesel High and Shines.  All of them performed well, but, my favourite was Def Shade.  The vibes were positive and everyone was having fun, which made for a great party!  Speaking of …

I’m glad King Attarney decided to stay and play past Midnight – it made up for their late arrival and late start.  Yes, they were partying it up with the artistes, getting into ‘the vibe’ before they took center stage, but, we would’ve liked to have seen them play from 9 PM.

I have always respected the King Attarney Sound – underestimated, but lethal!  I think it’s just a matter of time before this Sound rises in ‘Sound clash’ popularity again, so, when the war starts…call King Attarney!
