#1: SOUL SURVIVAL – TOP CANADIAN CLASH SOUND 2019

Congratulations to Toronto’s Soul Survival, voted ‘Top Clash Sound of 2019‘ by our ReggaeMania.com Award pollsters. Soul Survival, technically, had an unbeaten record for 2019, having participated in two clashes and winning them both. To date, no other Canadian sound, perhaps with the exception of Montreal’s Little Thunder, can claim two victories for 2019 clashes, so credit goes to the Soul Survival crew.

The annual Sound Rage sound clash took place at 40 Hanlans on Saturday April 13th, 2019. Soul Survival, two-time Fully Loaded champions (2011-2012), emerged supreme against King Vower and 2017 Fully Loaded champions Laza Force. Soul Survival got a good fight that night from Vower, but Vower was eliminated after the 3rd round. It was smooth sailing after that for Survival, later eliminating Laza Force in a 6-1 landslide tune-fi-tune showdown.

But that would only be ‘win number one’ for Pablo and his Soul Survival crew. They would return to bat and come out winners of the ‘Going To The Cemetery‘ sound clash, Soul Survival vs Delta Force (one-on-one) at Slam Grill (3685 Keele St., Toronto) on Saturday November 23rd. This clash ended in a 3-round “lock off” for Soul Survival. One of the biggest and most memorable forwards for the night that set the momentum for Survival and helped them win the 1st round, happened after Delta Force used their RoundheadShoe Boss’ dub to try and diss Pablo (Survival MC). The crowd lost it when Survival responded to the attack with a creative counter-action General B dub — ‘Bad Inna Dem New Pants and Shoes’, and the right speech to go with it.

Soul Survival has a bright future ahead, and just like Klymaxx, will say yes to any reasonable offer inviting them to clash, locally or internationally, because they are hungry and fearless. Look for them to be clashing next at ‘Apocalypse’, Saturday March 28th at Twilight Lounge, Soul Survival vs King Fargo vs Royalty.

Congratulations to Soul Survival, winners of our ReggaeMania.com ‘Tops’ Award for ‘Top Canadian Clash Sound of 2019′.
