#3: MYSTIC – TOP CANADIAN CLASH SOUND 2019
Our pollsters awarded Mystic the #3 spot for 2019’s Top Canadian Clash Sound. This may seem like a surprise to some, since they are the current World Clash title holders, but World Clash was last held in 2018, the year they captured the championship. Since then it’s been a downward slide for Mystic. Nobody has clashed them since winning World Clash – this is unprecedented! Now, because so much time has gone by, the reasons why doesn’t seem to matter so much. Surely, nobody could’ve predicted this. By now Mystic should have toured the world, and clashed one or two big Sounds.

Ask Mystic, they will tell you “nobody” wants to pay them the clash price they believe they deserve for being World Clash champions. Ask the streets, and they tell you promoter Chin and Mystic don’t see eye-to-eye, and Chin, in his vengeance and partisan interest, has chosen to support and push second place runners up Dynamq Sound instead. Ironically, so far, despite being given a number of prime opportunities under Chin’s wings, Dynamq, has failed to find championship caliber, and did not ‘earn’ the right to rep their territory in the next 2020 World Clash.

I truly feel for Mystic, – yes, they won World Clash, a title which now seems a bit watered down, but they have seemingly not yet reaped any rewards from it. Mystic feels entitled to respect because of their World Clash title, a great Canadian achievement, but it seems they’re still fighting for it, or people are fighting them. Their lack of clash activity since winning the big title is a telling tale – something is wrong in the camp. Fortunately, with the postponement of World Clash to 2020, Mystic will still have a little bit of time left to take a clash, and not go down as the only World Clash champion not to engage in a single clash, after winning the title.

I’m hoping for Mystic’s sake, that they will seek management and re-brand themselves. A big opportunity sits right around the corner, and if they can pull off a win and “put up”, then all their critics will have no choice but to ‘shut up’ and ‘sit the fuck down’! Big up Mystic, in-active for the 2019 year in sound clash, yet still a ‘bad’ sound, and even better, still going to World Clash to rep Canada later this year.
